Hot Water Flow - Bathtub

Postby melstanley » Fri Jun 05, 2009 4:16 pm

Hello,

We live in a home that is just over 3 years old. Suddenly one of the guest bathrooms has a problem with the hot water pressure in the bath tub. When I turn the handle everything works fine with the cold water, but as I continue to turn the handle the closer I get to the hot water the less water pressure I have. Barely any water is coming out when it is all the way to hot. Any idea what started causing this all of a sudden? What can I do to fix this?

It sounds like you have a pressure balance valve for a faucet and you will need to call a plumber to correct it. :( It would be best to call the plumber that did the plumbing in your new house, many times you will get the best deal because, they want there plumbing work to speak for themselves. :D

Many times if they are in the area and its a minor thing they might not even charge for it since they did the original plumbing. :D

My problem is that we get very hot water from our bathroom sinks and bath tub, but the shower hot water barely gets warm. In the master bath, the tub and shower facets are on the same wall so this makes no sense. Even when we run the showers for several minutes before getting in (the hot water turned all the way up), the water temperature is just bareable to take a shower. Our water pressure is fine. Our water heater is turned up high. Our house is nine years old. What do you think the problem is?

Thanks and I hope you can help. I'm tired of cold showers.
